9 Schools Are Linked Together on the “GLORIA 2.0 SOUTH Platform” of National Cheng Kung University with the Focus on the Announcement of Green Energy and Circular Economy Technologies
In response to the threats caused by global climate change, the development of “green energy” and “circular economy” is an important task that cannot be delayed. The “GLORIA 2.0 SOUTH Platform” led by National Cheng Kung University held the “Green Energy and Circular Economy Technology Matchmaking Workshop” at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center in the afternoon of the 10th day of this month. By jointly promoting the research capabilities and the faculty R&D skills of the nine partner schools, it is hoped that they may facilitate the linkage between universities and industry to help the industry to meet the global target of net-zero emissions and to strengthen their international competitiveness.
This matchmaking workshop focused on the technical fields of “green energy” and “circular economy”. The participants included the representatives from National Cheng Kung University, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, Far East University, National Formosa University, Cheng Shiu University, Kun Shan University, Tainan University of Technology, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and National Pingtung University of Science and Technology. They made the announcement of innovative technologies with the potential for commercial applications in the market. Besides, vendors including ASE Group, China Steel Corporation, WinWay Technology Co., Ltd., Ablerex Electronics Co., Ltd., Institute for Information Industry, and Metal Industries Research & Development Centre also sent their representatives to the site. The one-on-one exchange between industry and academia through matchmaking enabled enterprises to better understand the professional and technical contents and related applications that could be provided by the teachers, and it also led to the more substantial cooperation and interaction between industry and academia, which in turn facilitate the business matchmaking.
In terms of green energy, the technologies announced this time included the “Smart Parking Lot Management System for Battery Electric Vehicles”, the “Preparation Method of Nitrogen-doped Carbon/Metal Complexes”, the “Wireless Charging/Discharging System for Battery Electric Vehicles (or Electric Motorcycles) Using Wireless Power Transfer of AC/DC Output”, the “Continuous Cloud Monitoring Device for High Pollution Density”, “Te-Li Plate (特力板) Energy Saving Bricks”, “A Triggered Switch Device with Adjustable Threshold Value”, the “Method Program, and Computer Readable Medium for Defect Detection by the Hybrid of Image Cell Segmentation and Machine Learning”, and “Nanomaterial Compounding Technology in Green Chemistry: Detection of Toxic Chemicals and Antimicrobial Action”.
In terms of circular economy, the technologies announced included the “Development of Environment Friendly and Energy Saving Carbon Capture and Storage Technology and the Establishment of Smoke Vent Continuous Processing System”, the “Combined Cooling, Heat and Power System for Regional Circular Economy with Intelligent Integration of Energies and Resources”, the “Reuse of PET Bottle Pallets and Recycled Waste Labels Using Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Foaming Technology”, the “Lighting Equipment with Water Purification and Supply Functions”, and the “Development of Advanced Photovoltaic Curtain Wall and Photovoltaic Module Recycling Equipment”.
Despite the fact that the pandemic has not yet subsided, we cannot just wait for the solutions to environmental problems on the Earth. For the first time, the GLORIA 2.0 SOUTH Platform held an inter-school technology matchmaking workshop on the theme of green energy and circular economy to announce the innovative technologies and research results from its partner schools. It is hoped that we can bring new inspiration and business opportunities for the industry and to encourage more people to invest in the development of "green energy" and "circular economy". This is to help the industries in Taiwan to keep pace with the global goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
